Nobility crown Álvarez BaragañaPor referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la escolta del rey de Castilla, D. Fernando el Santo, que se entrevistó con su madre en 1245 en un lugar llamado Pozuelo donde luego se fundó Ciudad Real. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de las huestes de los tercios de Nápoles, mandados por D. Fernando de Toledo duque de Alba, que ostigaron en 1557 a las tropas del Duque de Guisa que fueron derrotas sin presentar batalla y obligadas a retirarse otra vez a Francia con deshonra y oprobio. Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Álvarez Baragaña. Son sus armas: En azur, dos leones rampantes, de oro, uno sobre otro; partido de gules, con un hombre armado de plata, que tiene un hierro de reja en la mano derecha. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia A., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento mano es la característica de la familia hacia la vida, probablemente aquella estaba influenciada o emparentada con miembros significativos de la Iglesia.
