Domingo de A., de la casa de este apellido en Lizaur, era vecino de San Sebastián en 1566. Una rama pasó a Valencia, siendo su progenitor Martín A. y Garmendia, natural de la villa de A., por lo que le llamaron así. Su hijo, Juan Martín de A., fué Familiar del Santo Oficio en Valencia, y de éste procedió José Mauro de A., ciudadano de Valencia en 1654. Tuvo este apellido su casa solar en Guipúzcoa. Muchos linajes de este apellido probaron su nobleza en las Órdenes de Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara, Montesa, (corporaciones nacidas para luchar contra los moros, cooperando a la Reconquista, y asegurar el orden, protegiendo a los peregrinos y desvalidos), Carlos III y San Juan de Jerusalén (es una orden religiosa militar fundada en el siglo XI); numerosas veces en las Reales Chancillería de Valladolid y Granada, en la Real Compañía de Guardias Marinas y en la Real Audiencia de Oviedo. Los de Guipúzcoa traen por armas: De plata, con un árbol de sinople, terrasado de lo mismo, y al pie del tronco un jabalí de sable, perseguido por un cazador que le hiere con una lanza de asta negra y hierro azul. Otros traen: En oro, una banda de gules cargada de tres rosas de plata y acompañada de dos lobos pasantes de sable, armados y lampasados de gules. Otros: En plata, un áncora, de sable. ...
