Tuvo su solar en el lugar de A. (cuyo nombre tomó), del partido judicial de Vitoria (Álava), y radicó en la ciudad de Vitoria. De ese solar descendió Martín Ochoa A., que casó con María de Villarroel, natural de Orduña, y procrearon a Juan Ochoa de A., hijodalgo notorio que tomó parte en la conquista del Perú, y fué Alférez, Capitán y Sargento Mayor. Casó allí con doña María Hurtado de Arbieto (hija de Martín Hurtado de Arbieto, de los conquistadores del Perú y Gobernador de aquellas tierras), con la que volvió a España. En 1605 marchó de nuevo al Perú con su esposa. Esta falleció poco después, y su viudo casó de nuevo en Cuzco don doña Catalina de Mercado y Lerma, natural de Cuzco, nieta paterna del General Pedro de Lerma, otro de los conquistadores de aquel país. De este segundo matrimonio procedió la rama del Perú, que se extendió por el Nuevo Reino de Granada, rama ilustre a la que pertenecieron Diego Ochoa de A. (hijo primogénito de Juan Ochoa de A. y de su segunda mujer doña Catalina de Mercado y Lerma), Agente Fiscal en la Real Chancilliería de Santa Fe; el Maestro Fray Diego Ochoa de A. (hermano del anterior), religioso Dominico, gran Predicador y Rector del Colegio de Santo Tomás de Santa Fe; Blas Ochoa de A. (hermano de los anteriores), Alcalde de la Hermandad de la misma ciudad de Santa Fe, su patria, y Gobernador de la provincia de San Juan de los Llanos, y otros muchos notables varones. ...
