Nobility crown AlcibarUno de los más esclarecidos linajes de las Vascongadas, especialmente en Guipúzcoa, donde tuvo su primitivo solar, sito en la jurisdicción de la villa de Azpéitia. Acaso procede del lugar de A., en el Valle de Oyarzun. Líneas de este solar fundaron nuevas casas en las villas de Gaviria, Azcóitia y Segura, del partido judicial de Azpéitia, y en la de Oñate, del partido de Vergara. También las hubo en Arratia y jurisdicción de Marquina (Vizcaya). Natural de la villa de Azcóitia, pero originario de la casa de Oñate, fué Joaquín María de A. y Acharán (hijo de Manuel Francisco de A. y Altuna, natural de Azpéitia, y de doña María Ana de Acherán; nieto de Francisco Ignacio de A. y Solaguen, natural de Azpéitia, y de doña Manuela Tomasa de Altuna y Corta, y bisnieto de Andrés de A. y Vicuña, natural de Oñate, y de doña Francisca Solaguen). Dicho caballero fué Capitán del Ejército e ingresó en la Orden de Carlos III, en 1704. Hortuño de A., Señor de la casa de A., fundó un mayorazgo, el 2 de Agosto de 1617, para su hijo Juan Martínez de A., en ocasión de sus bodas con Juana de Avendaño (hija de Martín de Avendaño Garay y de doña Magdalena de Alzaibar, Señores de la Casa de Garay y vecinos de Amorebieta). En 1722, litigó la posesión de este mayorazgo José Hortuño de A., vecino de Ceánuri (anteiglesia vizcaína del partido de Durango), pidiendo la restitución de algunos bienes a Juan de Bengochea.
