Antica famiglia patrizia di Pavia. Pietro, decurione, otteneva il riconoscimento della nobiltà della sua casata con decreto 18 gennaio 1771 dell' I.R. Tribunale Araldico e lo stemma della medesima veniva delineato con decreto 26 luglio 1787 dell' I.R. Consiglio di Governo della Lombardia Austriaca. Furono figli suoi Carlo, giureconsulto collegiato, Cesare, Alessandro e Cleto, che vennero confermati nell'antica nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 28 gennaio 1817. La bibliografia di questa famiglia viene menzionata dal Marchese Vittorio Spreti, nella sua Enciclopedia Storico-Nobiliare Italiana stampato in Milano nel 1936. Raccogliendo manoscritti di contenuto araldico e nobiliare-genealogico, tra le biblioteche ed in moltissimi archivi pubblici e privati. Le testimonianze e i documenti raccolti per la formazione dell'opera in questione sono state trasmesse dalla famiglia stessa.
