La casa solar de Amasorraín estuvo sita en el partido de Artiga, jurisdicción de la ciudad de San Sebastián. Fué una de las pobladoras de la ciudad y fundadora de la antiquísima iglesia de parroquial San Sebastían el Antiguo, extramuros de ella, y de cuyo principio y fundación no hay memoria. Sólo se hace mención de ese San Sebastián el Antiguo, de su parroquia, confines, términos y de algunas casas solares del referido partido de Artiga y del de Ibaeta, en una escritura de donación que Don Sancho el Mayor, Rey de Navarra, hizo de los diezmos de dicha parroquia de San Sebastián el Antiguo al Monasterio de San Salvador de Leire, el 17 de Abril del año 1014. De esto se infiere la gran antigüedad de ese solar de A., que es casa de nobles hijosdalgo, notorios de sangre y de Cabo de Armería. Sus individuos se extendieron por otros puntos de Guipúzcoa y sirvieron muy bien a sus Reyes en ocasiones de guerra, muy particularmente la de Andalucía, cuando las conquistas de Córdoba y Sevilla. También se señalaron los de este linaje por la ayuda que prestaron al Rey Don alfonso XI en la célebre batalla del Salado y en otras que años sucesivos se libraron contra los moros. En 1475 Martín de A. fué uno de los caballeros que acudieron en socorro de Fuenterrabía, que estaba asediada por los franceses.
