Un modesto cronista reggiano della metà del secolo XIX, Prospero Fantuzzi, dice che nel secolo XVI essa era famiglia cittadina e benestante e pare avesse il soprannome di "Fanicoli". Un Giovanni, vivente nel 1466, può considerarsi i capostipite della famiglia. Un suo figlio Cristoforo fu canonico della cattedrale di Reggio, e così pure un Grisante, di Bartolomeo, nel sec. XVI. Uno di questi canonici arricchì la famiglia. Nel sec. XVII Gerolamo, di Alessandro, di Giovanni, sposò Laura Correggi e in seconde nozze Barbara Rocca. Suo figlio Alessandro (figlio della prima moglie), vivente nel 1668, fu il primo creato conte di Gadezobbio e Bedogno, e sposò Ippolita Pigna di Bozzolo. Il Conte Giovanni, suo figlio, che ebbe pure il feudo di Cadezobbio e Bedogno, fu dottore in ambe le leggi e buon poeta; fu onorato da Casimiro Re di Polonia. (Ne parlano ...
