Por su matrimonio con Doña Teresa de A., hija del I Conde de A. y de Villalba, Don Fernán Ruiz de Castro, Conde de Lemos, I Marqués de Sarria, enlazó con esta Casa de los Condes de Lemos. Los títulos de Conde de A. y de Villalba, fueron concedidos por los Reyes Católicos en 1486, a Don Hernando de A. El linaje A. enlazó con los primeros de la nación, como son los Ulloa, Condes de Monterrey; los Osorio de Moscoso, Condes de Altamire; de la Cueva, Duques de Alburquerque; los Sarmientos de Sotomayor, Condes de Salbaierra. Este apellido se extendió por las provincias de Soria, Guadalajara, Toledo, Cáceres y Badajoz; asimismo se estableció en Canarias, Portugal y América.
