Cette famille est originaire du Velay. On rencontre: Yolande, femme du duc François I, en 1431. Guy, prélat d'une grande autorité, issu de la race illustre des comtes d'Anjou. Il était le second fils de Foulques le Bon et de Gerberge, sœur de Thibaut I, comte de Blois. D'abord bénédictin, Guy devint successivement abbé des quatre monastères de Saint Pol de Cormery et de Villeloin (Touraine), de Saint-Aubin près Pouancé (Maine-et-Loire) et de Ferrières près Andryes (Yonne), puis fut élu évêque du Puy en 975. Il consacra vers 980, l'église dédiée à Saint-Michel et édifiée par Trianus, doyen de la cathédrale, au faîte du rocher d'Aiguilhe. C'est à lui qu'est due aussi, de concert avec Guigues, abbé de Saint-Chaffre, et l'approbation de sa sœur et de ses neveux Pons et Bertrand de Gévaudan, la fondation (13 avril 993), du prieuré de Saint Pierre le Monastier au Puy. On lui attribue enfin l'institution de la Trêve de Dieu. Autre branche: frère du précédent à qui il aurait été substitué, d'après certains auteurs par Hugues Capet. Pour une cause restée ignorée, il n'aurait pu prendre possession de son siège. Autre famille originaire de Bretagne: Louis, seigneur de la Mahudière, paroisse de Saint-Martin de Montbray, élection de Vire, anobli en 1657; deux brigadiers des gardes du corps du Roi, en 1777 et 1787, appelés à l'assemblèe de la noblesse du bailliage d'Avranches, pour l'élection aux Etats généraux en 1789. ...
