Nobility crown ArmentiaLos apellidos A. y Armenta son uno mismo, según consta de instrumentos antiguos de esta familia, en los que se la apellida de las dos maneras, indistintamente. Procede de Álava, y tuvo su solar en el lugar de Armentia (cuyo nombre), perteneciente hoy al Ayuntamiento de Vitoria. También una importante rama, dimanada de ese solar, se estableció en Córdoba en principios del siglo XIV, y de ella fué Rodrigo Alfonso de A., caballero principal de Córdoba y vecino de la collación de San Andrés. Casó con doña Urraca Martínez, y fundó en ella una capilla en la parroquia de la Magdalena, el 16 de Octubre de 1365, ante Antón García, Canónigo de la catedral y Notario apostólico. De este matrimonio fué hijo Rodrigo Alfonso de A., segundo del nombre, Señor de esta casa en Córdoba, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Elvira Díaz de Estepa (hija de Pedro Díaz de Estepa, Jurado de la collación de San Lorenzo, y de doña Olalla López de Haro), naciendo de esta unión Gonzalo Alfonso de A., que de su mujer doña Leonor García Carrillo (hija de Antonio García Carrillo y de doña Juana Gómez), tuvo a Juan Alfonso de A., que casó con doña María Alfonso Pedrosa (hija de Alfonso López de Pedrosa, Jurado de Córdoba y de doña Juana Guitérrez de Aguayo), y fueron padres de Alfonso Ruiz de A., que fundó mayorazgo de esta casa y fué Alcaide de la villa y castillo de Cañete de las Torres (Córdoba). Casó con doña Marina de Simancas, hermana de doña María de Simancas y tía de los Obispos de Zamora y de Cartagena. ...
