Nobility crown BenvengutLos de este linaje son oriundos de Francia, de donde pasaron a España, estableciéndose en las montañas de Jaca. Tomaron parte en la guerra de la Reconquista. Se llamaron, primero, Pizana y Maza, casas muy ilustres de caballeros y ricoshombres. Cuentan crónicas antiguas que cuando los aragoneses eligieron por rey a don Ramiro I "el Monje", un caballero llamado Félix de Lizana fue nombrado embajador cerca del Pontífice, para solicitar de éste que anulara los votos monásticos de don Ramiro y le concediese autorización para contraer matrimonio. Obtenidas estas concesiones del Papa, Félix de Lizana se dirigió al monasterio, donde moraba el rey monje. Este, cuando le vio llegar, le saludó, diciendo: "Ben Vengut". Desde entonces, dicen algunos genealogistas, quedaron los caballeros Lizana con el sobrenombre de "Benvengut" o "Bienvengud". Otros genealogistas atribuyen esta anécdota al rey don Jaime I "el Conquistador", hallándose en el sitio de Murcia y dirigiéndose al caballero Jaime de Lizana, que había matado a un moro tuerto, por lo que le concedió sus armas reales. Una vez en el trono de Ramiro I "el Monje", hizo a Félix de Lizana su camarero y capitán de su guardia, casándole con una dama muy principal, de la que tuvo dos hijos: Ramón y Arnal de Bienvengud, que son los progenitores de este apellido. ...
