Ilustre familia mallorquina, originaria de las montañas de Burgos. Ramón B. fue el primero de este linaje, que pasó desde las montañas de Burgos a servir al rey de Aragón, don Jaime I "el Conquistador", acompañándole en las conquistas de Mallorca y Valencia, y siendo heredado en Valencia por el citado monarca, que le cedió las casas de Mohamet Adarax. El verdadero fundador del solar de Mallorca fue un hermano de este caballero, que se llamó Pedro B. Compró al primero una casa y un campo en el término de la ciudad de Palma, donde fundó el solar y mayorazgo, según consta por instrumento otorgado el 5 de mayo de 1233. A esta casa pertenecieron ilustres varones que se distinguieron en diversas disciplinas y ocuparon los cargos más honoríficos de la isla. Citaremos a algunos solamente: Juan B. fue síndico de Mallorca y compromisario para arreglar las diferencias surgidas en 1403 entre las jurisdicciones civil y criminal de Andraix y Calvia; Juan B. y Geronés, doctor en ambos Derechos, asistió a las Cortes de Aragón comisionado por la Universidad; Juan B. y Torella, también doctor en ambos Derechos y señor de la isla de Cabrera, fue jurado por la clase de ciudadanos y recibió al rey de Navarra cuando estuvo de paso en la isla. Este soberano le nombró vicecanciller de Mallorca; Juan Nicolás B. y Sabater sirvió como capitán a Fernando "el Católico" en la guerra de Granada. ...
