Elle paraît avec Bernard, lieutenant de l'official du Puy, le 5 sep. 1285. Sa filiation remonte à Guillaume, damoiseau en 1295. Maintenue en Auvergne le 10 sept. 1667. Noble Jacques de Jalasset, baron deSt-Privat-d'Allier, seigneur de Vergezac, Talobre et autres places, marié le 28 sept. 1643 à Antoinette Motier de la fayette de Champétières, eut de sérieux démêlés avec Armand de Béthune, évêque du Puy. Il força même ce prélat à venir faire le siège en règle de St-Privat. Ses descendants existent en Auvergne. Autre branche, vicomtes d'Aubeterre en Saintonge, séparée au XIIIème siècle, éteinte en 1577 dans les d'Esparbès, qui sont devenus vicomtes d'Aubeterre et ont produit un maréchal de France en 1328. Nombreux officiers. Convoqué au ban et à l'arrière-ban de la sénéchaussée du Puy (1689) et à l'assemblée de la noblesse de Riom (1789). La branche de Saint-Privat portaient: d'azur, à trois fasces ondées d'argent, au chef cousu de sinople, chargé d'un lion léopardé d'or. Supports: deux lions. Cri: Garde-toi, Bouchard! ...
