Questa famiglia, detta prima Candol o Candola, è originaria della Francia. Da Marsiglia passò negli Abruzzi nel secolo XVIII, dove possedé molti feudi. In Morcone, nel 1644, vivevano i Baroni di Magliano e Santacroce che appartenevano ad un ramo illegittimo della famiglia Caldora. Essi erano, infatti, detti Caldora alias Malandrino. Vuolsi che la famiglia Candol che vive in Svizzera, fosse uscita dallo stesso ceppo dei C. napoletani. Questa famiglia possedette 38 baronie e 16 contadi e il Marchesato di Vasto (1449) e il Ducato di Bari nello stesso anno. Tra i personaggi più illustri della famiglia ricordiamo tre individui, che recarono 60 cavalli in aiuto di re Manfredi contro Carlo I d'Angiò.
