Nobility crown CaoDos grandes familias han llevado en España este apellido, nombrándose C. de Benós y Cao de Cordido, según el solar de donde procedían. C. de Benós. Los C. de Benós tuvieron su primitivo solar en el lugar de Benós, del ayuntamiento de las Bordes, valle de Arán y partido judical de Viella (Lérida), y fundaron casa en la villa de Lés, del mismo valle y partido. Sus caballeros, que ostentaron los títulos de barones de Lés y marqueses de Rosalmonte, se extendieron por el Mediodía de Francia y pasaron a Andalucía, creando otro solar en la ciudad de Antequera (Málaga), donde entroncaron con la familia de los condes de Argelejo. Los barones de Lés, cuyo título data de 15 de abril de 1478, sirvieron a los reyes Felipe VI, Carlo II y Felipe V, como vamos a ver en la siguiente filiación. El noble caballero catalán Arnaldo C. de Benós, natural de Benós, señor de la torre de Nardias y de los castillos de San Vicente de Sentels, de Molina y de Nivallate, floreció a principios del siglo XVI. Contrajo matrimonio con doña Dorotea Pedecondo y fueron padres de Ramón C. de Benós, que se distinguió en la guerra de los veinticinco años contra Francia y en las alteraciones de Cataluña en los años de 1635 a 1659. ...
