Nobility crown CaravitaD'origine spagnola, come da un processo dell'ordine di Malta del 1639, ritenuta dell'istessa agnazione dell'antichissima famiglia Garavito. Se ne trovano memorie in Eboli nel 1309 con un Gualtieri ed un Giovanni militi. Trasferitasi a Napoli nel 1630 fu dichiarata nobile fuori seggio nel 1639, ed ammessa al monte Manzo. Alla fine del secolo XVIII venne aggregata al patriziato napoletano e con real dispaccio 31 ottobre 1804 iscritta al Libro d'oro della nobiltà del regno. Ai principi del secolo XVII si divise in due rami che tuttora permangono. Il primo originato da Antonio, figliuolo di Agostino consigliere del Sacro Regio Consiglio, fu decorato del titolo di marchese (1778), del titolo di principe di Sirignano per successione della famiglia de Gennaro, iscr. al Libro d'oro napoletano e dichiarato in seguito ammissibile nelle RR.
