Nobility crown CastillejoQuien fuera el principal ascendiente y tronco propagador de este ilustre y noble linaje se ignora por su remota antigüedad, siendo por tanto tradicional e inmemorial la nobleza de sus hijos, los cuales han gozado siempre y en todas partes de la consideración y preeminencias correspondientes a sus ilustres nacimientos, no siendo la más esclarecida de sus líneas la que arraigó y floreció en España. Tuvo también este apellido su casa solar en Italia. Muchos linajes de este apellido probaron su nobleza en las Órdenes de Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara, Montesa, (corporaciones nacidas para luchar contra los moros, cooperando a la Reconquista, y asegurar el orden, protegiendo a los peregrinos y desvalidos), Carlos III y San Juan de Jerusalén (es una orden religiosa militar fundada en el siglo XI) y numerosas veces en las Reales Chancillerías de Valladolid y Granada; también en la Real Compañía de Guardias Marinas y en la Real Audiencia de Oviedo. Los de Italia traen por armas: Tronchado, primero en gules, una estrella de oro y segundo en oro, un árbol de sinople. Otros traen: Mantelado primero cuartelado. El primero y cuarto de gules, con una cruz de oro floreteada y el segundo y el tercero de oro, con dos de sinople, botonadas de sable y con dos hojas, también de sinople, puestas una flor sobre otra; segundo: en azur, tres bandas de oro y el mantel de gules, con un castillo de oro, de tres torres y aclarado de azur. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia C., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento estrella es la figura más extendida en la heráldica, su significado es impreciso, en cuanto se refiere a la Península, pero parece ser que demostrar su fidelidad a la Iglesia de Roma, por analogía al significado en Lombardía y Toscana que era la pertenencia al partido Güelfo (del Papa de Roma).
