Con diploma 28 ottobre 1681 il senatore e depositario generale Francesco di Baldo di Paolo Feroni, ammiraglio della flotta olandese, fu da Cosimo III investito del feudo di Bellavista in Val di Nievole, con titolo marchionale; e tale investitura fu ripetutamente rinnovata a favore dei discendenti del primitivo concessionario. Nel 1694 i Feroni ottennero dallo stesso granduca un altro diploma, datato 28 gennaio, col quale erano dichiarati nobili di vera e generosa nobiltà proveniente da chiarezza di sangue e da splendore di antenati; vestirono per giustizia l'abito di cavaliere della religione di S.
