De los célebres y antiguos condes de Barcelona procedió el ilustre linaje de Cifre, como lo afirma el acreditado Mosen Febrer, añadiendo que Ramon Cifre fué uno de los mas esforzado capitanes del rey Don Jaime I de Aragón. Acompañó Ramon al rey a la conquista de Mallorca, donde por su valor y nobles hazañas mereció muy rico repartimiento. Sus preclaros descendientes han procurado conservar en todos tiempos y aun actualmente sostienen la nobleza de su esclarecido tronco y progenitor, siendo el actual representante de esta ilustres y antigua familia en Mallorca Don Guillermo Ignacio Cifre, en cuya casa está incorporado desde muchos siglos un vínculo o mayorazgo llamado de Colonia, con gravámen del apellido, por lo cual se llama C. de Colonia.
