Nobility crown CocitoFamiglia antica, da Neive, oriunda d'Asti. Varie rami della famiglia si propagarono in diverse regioni d'Italia. Le prime memorie risalgono a Giovanni Antonio, dottore in leggi, giudice di Bra, vicario d'Alessandria, creato conte palatino da Carlo V (21 marzo 1530). Si attribuisce a lui e al fratello Pietro la gloriosa difesa della torre di Lu Monferrato nel 1523. Ebbe, tra altri figli, Augerio, giudice in Asti, padre di Emilio, che fu cavaliere di giustizia dei SS. Maurizio e Lazzaro (3 gennaio 1576) e segretario di S. A. (12 ottobre 1591); Giambattista, continuatore della casata, e Gabriele, stipite dell'estinto ramo dei conti di Pietraporporzio e Pombernardo per investiture 30 novembre 1725 e 15 febbraio 1732. Un tardo discendente del Giambattista suddetto, l'avvocato Ferdinando, otteneva, il 29 dic. 1790, per sé e per il fratello Cesare Nicolò, un declaratoria camerale di nobiltà. Cesare Nicolò fu padre di Luigi (n. Neive, 3 maggio 1800; m. Pinerolo, 11 nov. 1875), archivista dell'ordine militare di Savoia, cavaliere mauriziano di giustizia, creato conte da re Vittorio Emanuele I per Patenti 17 nov. 1818. Fra i suoi figli meritano particolare menzione Edoardo (1826-1904), presidente onorario di Sezione di Corte d'appello, e il conte Cesare (1820-1899), tenente colonnello (20 aprile 1867), gentiluomo di corte, ufficiale d'ordinanza del principe di Carignano. Era suo figlio l'ing. Ferdinando, che restaurò nel 1905 il teatro Regio di Torino. Eugenio, di Cesare, di Luigi. Figli: Adelaide, Clementina, Cesare, Maria, Anna. Fratello: Ferdinando. Altro ramo. Antica ed illustre famiglia Messina; annovera questa illustre casata personaggi di elevate virtù, ma la penuria delle scritture in quegli antichi secoli ci priva di quelle curiosità più nobili, che si possono desiderare. Numerosi personaggi di tale cognome si trovano di sovente menzionati nei documenti notarili fin dai secoli trascorsi, dai quali appare che erano di condizione nobile. Nei ricordi dei tempi andati si leggono alcune varianti di questo cognome, dovute alle solite cause della pronunzia dialettale e dal modo di interpretare nella scritturazione i cognomi. ...
