Nobility crown ConflansD'une grande maison de Champagne que plusieurs auteurs font descendre d'Engilbert de Brienne IIIème du nom, sgr. de Conflans, arrière-petit-fils d'Engilbert Ier, comte de Brienne, vivant en 990. Grand nombre de branches et illustrations de toutes sortes. L'évêque du Puy appartenait à la branche dite des sgrs. de Fouilleuse. Il était le second fils de Jean-François de Conflans, sgr. de Fouilleuse, capitaine au Régiment-Dauphin (fils puîné de Michel premier du nom, marquis de St-Rémi et de Louise de Carvoisin) et vivait pour mère Claire-Louise Doulcet, fille d'Etienne, avocat-général des requêtes, dont la famille avait été anoblie sous Louis XI. Prélat d'une grande humilité, d'abord prieur de Vesseaux en Vivarais, puis abbé d'Aiguebelle (1708), vicaire-général de Soissons, il fut sacré évêque du Puy le 8 janv. 1721 et mourut le 14 mars 1725, à l'âge de 49 ans, au château de Monistrol. Son corps fut inhumé dans l'église paroissiale de cette ville. ...
