Il n'est pas probable que Raymond, chanoine de Notre-Dame du Puy et historien de la première Croisade, ait appartenu à cette maison, bien qu'il paraisse avoir tiré son nom du village voisin du Puy. Il serait superflu de rappeler ici tout ce qui a été écrit sur le blason, sur la noblesse et sur l'origine du nom de cette famille.
