Antica ed assai nobile famiglia veneta, originaria di Belluno ma passata poi anche in Verona ed in Treviso, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. Già nel 1378 un Michele figura quale console di Belluno ed i suoi discendenti sedettero in quel nobile Consiglio ininterrottamente sino alla sua abolizione, ricoprendone le più importanti cariche. Anticamente questa illustre prosapia era investita della contea e della giurisdizione del feudo di Agordo. L'Imperatore Federico, con diploma 2 giugno 1454, confermò tale investitura e concesse all'illustre medico Gioberto il titolo di conte e cavaliere del Sacro Romano Impero. Lo stesso imperatore creò un Giancarlo di questa famiglia cavaliere e feudatario del capitanato della Pieve di Val d'Agrato. Un Paolo, inoltre, nel 1580, divenne Cavaliere Gerosolimitano.
