Cette maison est ancienne en Périgord. Elle a produit plusieurs officiers de terre et de mer, des conseillers au Parlement de Bordeaux, etc. Un Delpy de la Roche, écuyer, était conseiller, secrétaire du roi près la cour des aides de Guienne dans le commencement du XVIIIème siècle. Un François Delpit de Saint-Gérac, pourvu en 1753 de l'abbaye de Saint-Cybar ( ordre de Saint-Benoît, diocèse d'Angoulême), mourut le 17 septembre 1774, âgé de 60 ans environ, et fut enterré le lendemain dans l'église de Saint-Front, aux tombeaux de sa famille. Dans son extrait mortuaire, il est ainsi inscrit: Messire Marie-François Delpit de Saint-Gérac, abbé de Saint-Cybar, chanoine, archidiacre de la cathédrale, vicaire-général et official de Monseigneur l'évêque de Périgueux. On voit plusieurs membres de cette famille voter dans l'Ordre de la Noblesse aux États-Généraux de 1789, à Libourne, à Bordeaux, à Bazas et à la Rochelle. Entre autres représentants: MM. Henri, Léo, Jules Delpit, tous trois frères; M. Martial Delpit, ancien deputé de la Dordogne à l'Assemblé Nationale, dont une fille mariée avec M. le comte H. de Faubornet de Montferrand, lieutenant de vaisseau. MM. Albert et Edouard Delpit frères, tous deux littérateurs distingués, portent également les armes suivantes: De sinople à trois lions d'argent (ainsi décrites dans le Grand Armorial de France, registre de Sarlat). ...
