Le Nobiliaire du Limousin donne les mêmes armes, mais sans l'écartelé, sous le nom de Jean, fils d'autre Jean, chevalier, baron du Borg et Descandillac, et d'Antoinette de Dufort. Le petit-fils de ces derneirs, Bertrand, chevalier de l'Ordre du roi, épousa Jeanne de Fayole de Mellet, et testa le 28 octobre 1567. Un Jean du Maine se maria, le 15 mai 1587, avec Marguerite de Galard-Brassac; ce qui explique les armes gravées sur le château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
