Famiglia di antiche origini, che si stabilì nel Trentino nel secolo XV proveniente dalla Moravia, dove sembra avesse posseduto terre e castelli. Nell'ottobre 1537 Giovanni, Antonio e Nicola furono creati nobili del Tirolo dal cardinale Bernardo, principe vescovo di Trento, con l'aggiunta di un cane levriero all'antica arma consistente in due bande d'argento in campo rosso.
