Nobility crown Di BellaAntica ed assai nobile famiglia feudale, originaria della Basilicata, nel Regno di Napoli, passata in Sicilia e, più precisamente, in Messina, Taormina e Acireale. La tradizione vuole che si veda a suo capostipite Riccardo, nato nel 1160, figlio del giudice Giovanni de Salvia. Detto Riccardo, Signore di Rivisco in località Curia e di Santa Sofia in località Bella, insieme ai fratelli Pandolfo, Alessandro e Pietro prese parte alla terza crociata in Terra Santa e ottenne dal Re Guglielmo II, con Privilegio del 13 marzo 1186, il titolo di Barone di Santa Sofia ed in seguito quello di Conte. Il feudo di Santa Sofia fu lasciato in eredità da Gerardo, di Bernardo, di Nicola, di Iacopo al figlio Giovanni nato nel 1430 mentre il feudo di Rivisco al figlio Alemanno, Signore di Rivisco (ramo estinto).
