Nobility crown Di JorioFamiglia abruzzese, di antica e nobile tradizione, la quale è un ramo della nobile ed omonima famiglia campana. Tal cognominizzazione è una patronimia derivata dal nome Jorio, una forma regionale meridionale del nome Giorgio, documentata sin dal Medioevo e sorta, probabilmente, per influsso bizantino e neogreco. Altri genealogisti, invece, ritengono che tal casato sia sorto all'interno della gens romana dei Giorgi, una cui "familia communi iure" si stabilì nella attuale frazione di San Iorio, dando origine a tal illustre casato, il quale, nel corso dei secoli, si propagò in diverse regioni d'Italia. La famiglia, come rilevasi da documenti ed atti notarili, sin dai tempi più remoti, diede luce a personaggi di elevate virtù, tra i quali, ricordiamo: Antonio, dottore "in utroque jure", vivente in Chieti, nel 1587; D.
