E' un ramo degli Estensi di Ferrara il quale fu aggregato al Gran Consiglio di Venezia nel 1350. Altro ramo. Illustre ed antichissima casa d'Italia che ebbe il nome da Este, terra del padovano, ove fu il suo dominio che si distese su Padova, Ferrara, Modena e Reggio.
