Descendem os Feios das mais antigas linhagens portuguesas. De Gil Anes de Ataíde e de sua mulher, D. Elvira Anes Alcoforado, nasceu Martim Gil, a quem chamaram o F., alcunha de que derivou o apelido. Martim Gil recebeu-se com D. Maria Fernandes, filha de Fernão Martins Leitão e de D. Maria Anes, da qual teve vários filhos, sendo um deles Martim Gil F., de quem, parece, descendem os deste apelido, pois não se conhece a ligação dele com João F. fidalgo honrado do tempo de D. Fernando, ascendente certo mais ramoto da família. Alguns autores dizem que os Feios descendem de D. Também certos autores começam a deduzir a linhagem dos Feios, não a partir de João F., que alguns chamam Fernão, mas de seu bisavô Fernão F., que dize, descendente dos Infantes de Carrião e fundador, com sua mulher, das igrejas de Santa Maria de Peraboa e de S. Silvestre da Covilhã. No século XIX e talvez mesmo anteriormente, muitas pessoas escreviam Fêo em lugar de F. e Corrêa em vez de Correia.
