Muy antiguo linaje de Valencia. Es el mismo que en Mallorca tiene el nombre de "Fabrer". Se demuestra la identidad de los apellidos Fabrer y Febrer no sólo con semejanza de sus nombres, sino también con sus propios escudos de armas, que sólo ofrecen muy ligeras variantes, y con el hecho de aparecer apellidado Fabrer en documentos y nobiliarios mallorquines el mismo primitivo caballero del linaje que documentos nobiliarios valencianos apellidan Febrer. Este caballero, que figura entre los primeros y esclarecidos varones de la familia, es Guillermo Febrer, o Fabrer, veedor general del ejército del rey don Jaime I de Aragón, con el que tomó parte en las conquistas de Mallorca y Valencia. A más de las listas de todo el ejército para el pago y ración de cada soldado, hizo el citado Guillermo Febrer otra nómina de todos los nobles y sujetos de distinción que de los dominios del rey, y de otros dominios extraños, acudieron voluntariamente al sitio de Valencia, para darles el premio correspondiente a su mérito. Al rendirse Valencia al ejército del rey don Jaime I, por capitulación y covenio, el día 17 de marzo de 1238, le correspondió al repetido Guillermo, entre otros bienes que le tocaron en el reparto de lo ciudad, una casa junto a la parroquia de San Esteban, en la que nació su hijo el célebre tratadista mosén Jaime Febrer, al que apadrinó en la pila bautismal el propio don Jaime I "el Conquistador", que le dio su nombre. ...
