Una tradición de Irlanda hace descender la familia de F., u O' F., de Muryagh Mullallan, Rey de Connaught, una de las cuatro grandes provincias independientes en que se dividía el reino de Irlanda por los años de 696. Sus descendientes se llamaron después Flan y finalmente F. Esta familia irlandesa de F. pasó a España, estableciéndose en la provincia de Cádiz, y entroncó con la casa de Cólogan, de Tenerife. En 1767, el Obispo católico de Elphin expidió una genealogía que comenzaba en el siglo XIII y continuaba en línea recta hasta el citado año de 1767. De dicha genealogía tomamos nosotros los datos que más nos interesan, comenzando por Guillermo O' F. casó con doña Eleonora O' Malone, y fueron padres de Bernardo O' F. O' Malone, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Margarita Moore, y procreó a Juan O' F. Moore, que en su mujer doña Isabel Irwin, tuvo a Bernardo O' F. Irwin, natural de Atlone, en Irlanda, que fué el primero que pasó a España, y se estableció en Sanlúcar de Barrameda por los años de 1727. Casó en Cádiz el 17 de Mayo de 1749, por poder, con doña Emilia María Margarita de Gante y Mac-Carty (hija de Valentín de Gante y Murphy y de doña Emilia Mac-Carty y Gibeus, naturales de Subnamaca, en Irlanda). Murió Bernardo O' F. en Jerez de la Frontera, el 28 de Mayo de 1801, y su esposa en 1786, dejando los siguientes hijos: Patricio F. y Gante, que no tomó estado y murió en el Puerto de Santa María el 25 de Julio de 1803; Isabel María F. y Gante; y María Emilia F. y Gante. ...
