Procede este apellido de Gillis Le Febvre, más conocido por Guillén de F., que era hijo de Jacques Le Febvre y de Jacquemyne Paridaens, naturales de Courtrai en Flandes. Fue Gobernador de la isla del El Hierro a finales del siglo XVI, casándose con doña Guiomar Gutiérrez de Frías, hija de Pedro Gutiérrez de Frías, natural de Madeira, Gobernador y Regidor de El Hierro y de Doña María de Mateos, también de origen portugués. En el registro de las actas del Weezerij, orfelinato de la ciudad de Courtrai, de los años 1583 a 1589, figura con su blasón de armas Jacques Le Febvre, como Señor de Huérfanos de la ciudad. De aquel matrimonio nacieron once hijos, cuyos apellidos se extendieron por el Archipiélago, principalmente por la isla de El Hierro y Tenerife. Antonia de F., hija del Capitán Don Diago Sánchez de León y de Catalina de F. Quintero, contrajo matrimonio en Valverde de El Hierro, con el alférez Patricio Hernández Armas, hijoa del Regidor Gonzalo Hernández Bento y de su legítima esposa María de Armas Vera. Otros F. también naturales de El Hierro, fueron Don Juan de F. Espinosa, hijo de Domingo F. o F. Arteaga y de Doña Francisca de Espinosa Martel. El enlace tuvo lugar en 1723, entre el dicho Don Juan de F. y Doña Leonor Peraza. Una rama pasó a Venezuela en la persona de Don Antonio de F. Cordero, nacido en Valverde, que fue Regidor, Alférez Real y Alcalde ordinario de Coro, en Venezuela, a mediados del siglo XVIII. ...
