La famiglia di origine di Campogalliano compaiono non dirado in corte del sec. XIII. Nel Libro dei Nobili e Potenti della città e del distretto di Modena, compilato nel 1306, troviamo registrati i nomi di due Giovanni "de Radaldis seu de Fredezonibus" discendenti forse da quel Radaldo "Freditionum" che nel 1188 sedeva tra i Consoli della Città. Il 12 sett. 1280, il Consiglio Generale di Modena dichiarava un tal Zanello del fu Fedrezono de' Fedrezoni da Campogalliano e discendenti da lui in perpetuo, in linee mascoline, vero ed originario cittadino modenese. Un Nicolò figura tra i Conservatori della cità nel 1419-1422. Che veramente l'attuale famiglia ha, beni in Campogalliano, sia un germoglio di quall'antica prosapia, non intendiamo qui di affermare, ma neppur negare.
