Se dice de esta familia tiene como tronco propagador a Don Ottone Ferrabone, Capitán de Porta Orientale, quien estuvo entre los nobles que lucharon en varias facciones de Milaneses que se refugiaron luego en Cremia, territorio cercano al Lago de Como, situado entre los castillos de Rezzonico y de Musso y de la capilla patronal de la antigua iglesia del lugar. La familia fue investida de nobleza por Decreto Soberano el 25 de noviembre de 1816 en la persona de Giorgio di Giorgio y sus descendientes Ignacio y el sacerdote Don Luigi y Don Giovanni, hijos de Carlos Ferrabone. Las pruebas genealógicas nos remontan al siglo XVI hasta Matteo F., hijo de Pietro F., residente en Cremia (1576, 1577, 1586) y de este proviene Pietro (1577, 1586), padre de Giorgio Ferrabone, residente en Musso (1619, 1630, 1633) y padre de Giovanni Battista F. (1696, 1720, 1721). Este tiene dos hijos: Giorgio (1749-1769) y Carlo Ferrabone (1724,1749, 1769, 1770) descendientes de los ya mencionados Giorgio y descendientes: Ignacio, Don Luigi y Don Giovanni Ferrabone. Actualmente, la línea descendiente de Giorgio di Giorgio está inscrita en el Elenco Oficial Italiano con el título de nobles y las calificaciones de Don y Doña. La línea descendiente de Ignacio di Carlo F.
