Nobility crown FlaghacOn trouve le nom de cette maison diversement écrit Flaghat et Flageac. Antique chevalerie à laquelle appartenait: Blismot dame de Flaghac, qui vers l'an 1062, fit bâtir au-dessous de son château, sur le conseil de St-Pierre de Chavanon, l'église et le prieuré de N.-D. de Flaghac réunis plus tard à l'abbaye de Pébrac. Gilles, chevalier, est cité parmi les negociateurs du traité intervenu entre le roi de St-Louis et Reymond VII, comte de Toulouse (1229-1233). En 1249, le même Gilles se trouvant à la croisade, souscrivit un emprunt devant Damiette, conjointement avec Bertrand de Cheminades chevalier, Guillaume de la Salle, Bernard de Faugeres et Hugues de Fontanges, écuyers. Cette famille s'éteignit peu après dans les de Chavanons qui reprirent et continuèrent pendant deux siècles et demi le nom et les armes de Flaghac d'où les notices ci-après. Elle a donné: quatre chanoines-comtes de Brioude (1301-1512); divers chevaliers marquants pendant la guerre des Anglais, l'un d'eux fit rebâtir le château de Flaghac en 1437; un panetier du roi (1427); un abbé de St-Alyre de Clermont (1465); trois abbés de Pébrac: Armand, Guillaume et Jean-Guillaume, insignes bienfaiteurs de ce monastère (1438-1525), où l'on voit encore leur blason sculpté dans l'église. Inscrite à l'armorial manuscrit de 1450. Belles alliances. Cette seconde race s'est éteinte avec Jeanne de Flaghac héritière de sa maison, mariée le 19 juin 1508, à Bernard de Chateauneuf de Rochebonne qui prit le nom et les armes de Flaghac et fut la tige d'une troisième famille. ...
