Nobility crown FlorioAntichissima famiglia di Spalato, la quale, primieramente, passò a risiedere in Albania e, verso la metà del XV secolo, in Udine, con un Nicolò, povero tintore schiavone, il quale continuò a esercitare nella nuova residenza il suo mestiere, prendendo moglie e propagando la propria discendenza. Migliorate le condizioni economiche della famiglia, un figlio di Nicolò, Giacomo, dotato di vivace ingegno, studiò legge e divenne ben presto un giureconsulto di grido, tanto che la Repubblica Veneta lo volle suo consultore nella scabrosa materia dei confini. Francesco Cornaro, legato veneto, essendo stato con diploma 20 genn. 1521 creato da Carlo V conte palatino, con facoltà di elevare altri alla stessa dignità, nominò conte palatino il suo segretario Giacomo, con tutti i discendenti, rilasciandogli il relativo diploma in data 2 maggio 1521.
