Se considera tronco de este linaje, al Infante don Aznar F., hijo bastardo del Rey de Asturias don Fruela II, que falleció el año 924 y dió también origen a las familias de Acuña, Girón, Cisneros y otras. Del citado Aznar F., fué hijo Don Ximeno Aznar, o Aznárez, del que sólo se sabe que existió; pero no se citan documentos relacionados con su persona. Opinan autorizados tratadistas que tuvo por hijo y sucesor a Don Froyla Ximénez, llamado también F. Ximeno. Vivió en el siglo X y consta que era Conde y dueño de la villa de Taja, perteneciente a la parroquia de Teverga, en el partido judicial de Belmonte (Asturias). También poseyó el monasterio de San Salvador de Ambax (Concejo de Grado). Estos bienes se los repartieron sus hijos, y fueron en parte donados a la Iglesia de Oviedo por doña Aldonza Ordóñez, nuera de don Froyla, según una escritura otrogada por ella, que hoy existe. Parece que es él quien confirma en 992 una donación de Bermudo II, con el nombre de Froyla Ximénez, dando a la Iglesia de Oviedo el castillo de Miranda. Fueron sus hijos Don Pelayo F., el Diácono, que sigue, y Don Ximeno F., Conde Gobernador, nacido en el siglo X, Ricohombre de Alfonso V y Bermudo III. Confirma una donación de Bermudo II a la Iglesia de Oviedo en 992 y fué dueño, en común con su hermano don Pelayo, del Monasterio de San Salvador de Ambax (Grado), como consta de la donación de doña Aldonza Ordóñez, citada.
