Famille illustré par Guy III Fulcodi où de Foulques, éveque du Puy (1257-1260), surnommé le Gros, Pape sous le nom de Clément IV. Né à St-Gilles (Provence) d'une maison considérable, il embrassa d'abord la carrière des armes, puis devint professeur de droit civil et canonique, avocat, juriconsulte habile, secrétaire de St-Louis, et ayant perdu sa femme dont il eut deux filles, entra dans les ordres. Successivement chanoine et archidiacre de la cathédrale du Puy, évêque de cette ville dès 1257, chanoine-comte de Brioude le 9 septembre 1259 (titre qui, depuis, fut conféré de droit à ses successeurs), transféré en 1260 à la métropole de Narbonne, il fut créé cardinal évêque de Sabine (1261), légat en Angleterre (1265) et enfin élu pape sous le nom de Clément IV le 5 février 1265. Sa mort survint à Viterbe après "3 ans , 9 mois et 25 jours de règne", le 29 novembre 1268. ...
