Famiglia originaria del Piemonte. Gian Filippo (dec. 1616), ricevitore di Santhià, quindi chiavaro di Santhià e del capitano (1605), venne nobilitato il 30 maggio 1605. Il nipote di costui, Carlo Gabriele, di Gian Francesco che fu prefetto d'Asti e senatore di Piemonte, fu infeudato di Bestagno con titolo comitale il 7 maggio 1723. Casimiro, di Giovanni tenente generale, scrisse opere di carattere militare. Carlo Gabriele, di Carlo Brunone, maggiore aggregato a Nizza Cavalleria, fu creato cavaliere dell'impero ed ottenne la concessione di uno stemma napoleonico. Fu suo figlio Guido, colonnello del duca d'Aosta, e decorato di medaglia d'argento. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, ...
