Antica ed assai nobile famiglia della città di Mantova passata poi nel Monferrato, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Tal casato un tempo era conosciuto solamente come Galeazzi ma, dopo che un Tommaso Galeazzi detto Salvati fu insignito del titolo di Conte di San Giorgio dal Cardinale Gonzaga il 27 luglio 1620, essa iniziò a cognominarsi Galeazzi Salvati. Secondo altre ricostruzioni araldiche, invece, la famiglia trarrebbe il proprio nome da un Salvato Galeazzi, oriundo da Gubbio, che fu podestà di Mantova dal 1532 al 1543 e poi di nuovo nel 1557. Sarebbe pertanto la famiglia derivata dalla casata fiorentina dei Gianfìgliazzi, importata a Gubbio da Corso di Adimaro e solo successivamente passata in Mantova.
