Nobility crown GhemartEste apellido procede de los Países Bajos, conociéndose desde el siglo XVI, con las diferentes denominaciones de Van Ghemert, Gemert, Ghemart, Geemart y en Canarias también como Guelmes y Guélmez. Pablo van Ghermert, natural de Amberes, pasó a Canarias con su abuelo Pablo van Dalle y se estableció en la isla de la Palma, otorgando testamento el 1º de junio de 1617. Su abuelo paterno era Pablo van Ghermert, primero del nombre, hijo de Thierry van Ghemert, vecino de Maestrich que luego se establecería en Amberes. En la isla de la Palma continúa esta familia por línea de hembra, ya que del matrimonio de Pablo con Susana de León Álvarez, solo hubo una hija, Ana van Ghermert, nacida en Los Llanos de Aridane y bautizada el 2 de noviembre de 1603 en la Parroquia de los Remedios, donde luego contraería bautizada el 2 de noviembre de 1603 en la Parroquia de los Remedios, donde luego contraería nupcias con el Alférez Melchor Díaz Taño y Camacho, el 20 de octubre de 1619. Agueda Camacho van Ghemert, hija de los anteriores, nacida también en Los Llanos de Aridane y bautizada el 2 de abril de 1624, casó con Juan Álvarez del Corral y Bethencourt el 15 de septiembre de 1614 y también sigue la línea su hija primogénita, Doña María van Ghemert. Esta, de su matrimonio con el Alférez Juan Rodríguez de la Cruz, natural de Tijarafe, tuvo cinco hijos, heredándole el segundo. Don Pablo van Ghermert de la Cruz, que nació en Los Llanos de Aridane el 11 de noviembre de 1676. ...
