I fratelli Orlando e Defendente originarii di Biella, sono i primi di questa casa che si trovano stabiliti in Aosta. Essi vi esercitarono la gabella del sale, che loro procurò una considerevole fortuna per la quale si fecero nobilitare nel 1589. Di questa famiglia non si ebbero più notizie dal 1625. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata.
