Tuvo casas este linaje, con la denominación Gorrichategui, en las villas de Zumaya y de Cegama, del partido judicial de Azpeitia (Guipúzcoa). Otra casa llamada de G. hubo en Gaviria. De la casa de Cegama, fué Domingo G., natural de Cegama, esposo de doña María Miguel de Saraluce, natural de Idiazábal, del partido judicial de Tolosa, también en Guipúzcoa, y ambos padres de Francisco G. de Saraluce, natural de Cegama, que casó con doña Catalina de Legarra, natural de Salinas de Léniz, del partido judicial de Vergara (hija de Francisco de Legarra, natural de Amasa-Villabona, del partido judicial de Tolosa, y de doña María Astaburna, natural de Salinas de Léniz) naciendo de esta unión Francisco G. y Legarra, natural de Salinas de Léniz y del hábito de Santiago, que vistió el 29 de Octubre de 1685. Sancho, Lope Sánchez, Juan Sánchez, Martín Sánchez y Diego Sánchez de G., eran ferrones de Legazpia, también en Guipúzcoa, en 1417, y Juan Pérez de G., Escribano de la misma villa, en 1475. De la casa de Cegama, procedió Francisco Gorrochategui de Saraluce, natural de Salinas de Léniz (hijo de Francisco Gorrochatequi de Saraluce, natural de Cegama y de doña Catalina de Legarra, natural de Salinas de Léniz) y Caballero de la Orden de Santiago, en la que ingresó, el 29 de Octubre de 1685. Los del linaje G. ubicados en Cegama, donde radicaron dos casas solares de esta familia, ostentaron las siguientes armas: escudo cuartelado: 1º y 4º, un lobo andante y 2º y 3º, cuatro bastones. Bordura general con sotueres. Omite los esmaltes. En la actualida, el linaje de este ilustre apellido está extendido por España ( zona Norte ), Francia y América, ya que, durante la crísis de finales del S. XIX y en el transcurso de la Guerra Cívil Española, muchos fueron los hombres y mujeres, que portando el apellido G. cruzaron el Altántico en busca de fortuna y nuevos horizontes.
