Nobility crown GraafDesciende este apellido de los Países Bajos, donde ocupó un rango distinguido desde tiempos remotos. Su Casa Solar se halla en Rippermonde, país de War, de donde vino a Canarias Don Juan de G., señor de la Casa de G. en Rippermonde. De su matrimonio con la noble señora Margarita d'Auret, tuvo a Adrían de G.. Adrían de G., fue padre de tres hijos con su legítima esposa Madame Margarita de Germons, que continúan la línea en Canarias y la Península. El tercero de sus hijos, Don Cristóbal de G. y Germens, nacido en Rippermonde, Solar de sus antepasados, en 1680, sirvió durante la Guerra de Sucesión al Rey Don Felipe V, con un navío que armó y tripuló a su costa, contra el Archiduque de Asturia. Fue Teniente del Regimiento de Caballería de Tenerife y obtuvo Real Carta de naturalización, fecheda en Madrid el 14 de noviembre de 1728. Casó Don Cristóbal en La Laguna, Iglesia de los Remedios, el 6 de febrero de 1707, con Doña María Rafaela Sarmiento y Osorio, en la que tuvo tres hijos. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia G., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento águila , que es la más noble de las figuras utilizadas en heráldica, es el símbolo del rey del cielo, emperador de los pájaros, custodia del rayo y su significado es el de la fuerza y poder terrenal por la Gracia de Dios. Los esmaltes del arma de los G. pregonan los siguientes valores: la Plata corresponde al símbolo de la Luna, pureza, sinceridad, templanza, clemencia y amabilidad son las características espirituales de la familia, a las que hay que añadir otras como el afán de victoria y éxito y la elocuencia. ...
