Antichissima famiglia del regno di Napoli, derivata dalla celebre stirpe dei Marzano, passata a Rimini nel secolo XI e a Piacenza nel secolo XV. Lanfranco, figlio di Rinaldo de' Marzani feudatario del castello di Misciano in Terra d'Otranto da Napoli trapiantava nella prima metà del secolo XI a Rimini la propria famiglia. Quivi i fratelli Marazano I e Paolo nel 1120 costruirono un castello che da nome della famiglia chiamarono Marazano, di cui ottennero l'investitura feudale dall'imperatore Lotario II il 15 maggio 1125.
