Noblesse qui à joué un rôle considérable dans les fastes de la bourgeoisie du Puy. Raymond Guitard damoiseau, du diocèse de Cahors, vivant en 1360, est dit père d'autre Raymond décédé au Puy en 1398, dans la maison de son oncle paternel Gaillard écuyer, seigneur de St-Privat-d'Allier, vivant en 1480, était père de Marguerite Guitard de St-Privat-d'Allier, alliée le 8 décembre 1513 à Guillaume Bertrand, notaire royal, greffier des Etats du Languedoc, seigneur de la Farre qui testa le 30 juillet 1538. Noble Hugues Guitard dit Giraud, est qualifié seigneur de St-Privat, donne quittance à Claude de Châteauneuf de Rochebonne d'une somme de 1200 livres, le 14 janvier 1504. Il teste en 1523. Jacques seigneur et baron de St-Privat, fils de Guigon, avait acquis en 1511, de Gilbert et Antoine de Saint-Haon, la seigneurie de St-Martin-de-Fugères qu'il revendit le 6 août 1536, à Pierre Farnier. Il acheta la même année, la baronnie de Rochegude au seigneur de Rochebaron, lequel la tenait de Guillaume de Chalencon son auteur, acquéreur lui-même en 1432, de Dauphine de Montlaur veuve de Jacques du Peschin. Jacques Guitard épousa Anne de Lestrange et mourut avant 1549. Leur fille Anne, dame de St-Privat et de Rochegude, était mariée en 1567, à haut et puissant seigneur messire Marc de Montagu, baron de Montagu et de Fontanilhes, chevalier de l'ordre du roi. Viennent ensuite: des chanoines de N.-D. du Puy, dont un prieur commendataire de Viaye, vicaire-général de l'Évêque et fordoyen du chapitre (1559). ...
