E' una famiglia nobilissima che trae le sue origini dal Genovese, ove si disse in tempo antico Giordano e De Jordani. I Giordano ebbero Guglielmo ambasciatore dei Genovesi all'imperatore Federico Barbarossa nell'anno 1164. Nel 1528 Davide artefice bianco, già anziano nel 1509 ottenne col fratello Giorgio l'ascrizione al Promontorio. Ultimo ascritto al Libro d'Oro fu Benedetto, Giambattista quam, Giorgio, senatore nel 1596 e 1599. Giordano si recò in Costantinopoli fissando dimora in quel quartiere genovese. Occupata Costantinopoli dai turchi la famiglia vi rimase ascrivendosi alla comunità greca a Fanar. Costantino fu pellegrino crociato in Terra Santa; Pietro ebbe parte notevolissima nella comunità greca, ottenendo la carica di Intendente Onorario della Chiesa del Patriarca.
