Probablemente procede este linaje (o está relacionado) del lugar de Lastres, del Concejo de Colunga y partido judicial de Villaviciosa, en Asturias. Una de sus ilustres ramas, oriunda de Asturias y hacendada en Andalucía desde poco después de su conquista, debe ser objeto de meción detallada, aun habiéndose extinguido su varonía, por haber producido hijosdalgo distinguidos por sus Hábitos y Cargos, y entroncado con otra familias ilustres de los reinos de Córdoba y de Jaén, en Baena, Cabra y Alcalá la Real. El tronco de este linaje fué Fernán Alfón de L., Comendador de Catroviejo, natural de la casa y solar de L., en Asturias, y el primero que pasó a Baena, en el reino de Córdoba, donde radicó y obtuvo privilegio de hidalguía en el reinado de Alfonso XI. Para no historiar más que las generaciones bien conocidas, arrancaremos del descendiente (hijo o nieto), del anterior Pedro F. de L, que ignoramos con quién casó, pero que fué padre legítimo de Alfonso de L., habitante de Baena, según testimonio expedido a su favor en dicha población. El u otro de sus ascendientes próximos, debió ser marido de alguna señora de la familia Baena, a juzgar por el uso frecuente de este apellido que hicieron sus sucesores, antepuesto o unido al de su varonía, y del blasón de tal linaje que también unieron al suyo. Fué padre legítimo de Pedro Martínez de Baena, que, en su mujer, cuyo nombre no hemos logrado conocer, tuvo estos hijos: Fernán Martínez de Baena, y Juan Pérez de L., Regidor de Baena. ...
