Heraldrys of family: Le Carpentier
Ancient and very noble family French from Sainte-Opportune, a commune of Normandy, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, during the centuries. The clear nobility of the house is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable work of J.B. Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a Dutch heraldist and genealogist, "The Armorial General", a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families. In the eighteenth century, the family members were part of the parliament of Rouen. Moreover, this family, in all ages, always stood out, thanks... To be continuedto the prominent figures, which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal professions and in the military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Pierre, landowner in Normandy, flourishing in 1503; Henri, jurist, flourishing in Sainte-Opportune in 1525; Guillaume, landowner and militiaman, flourishing in Normandy in 1573; Thomas, jurist, flourishing in 1611; Pierre Henri, soldier by profession, flourishing in 1622; Louis, canon and theologian, flourishing in 1637; Jacques, landowner and jurist, flourishing in Sainte-Opportune in 1682; Louis, "secrétaire du roi", flourishing in 1684; Charles, jurist, living in 1715; Antoine, landowner, living in 1727; Henri Charles, captain of arms, flourishing in 1734; Louis, jurist, flourishing in 1737. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
